~Conquering Broga Hill~

Yoo hoo!!!! Finally i've made it up to the top of Broga Hill....after so long of whining wanting to climb it, today finally i've climb all 4 peaks....It's kinda tough in the dark though but after the sun rises, everything is perfectly clear...I never knew the view of sunrise is so beautiful!!♥♥♥
Overnite at hostel on wed night as we need to depart at 4.15am....so, we all woke up at 3.45am to get ready and waited for the guys to come over to MC to meet us....
It's quite a long journey and very early indeed...but we all had fun...some of the guys didnt even sleep...maybe they're too excited? well, maybe...=D
Only 9 of us went up and some of them have been there before...but this is my First Time up the hill...and I am very excited about it!! the route's cool, lots of ups and downs and i enjoyed the thrill of climbing up the in the dark with a small torch...COOL!!!
We reach the first peak at around 6.15am...there are quite a number of people although it's a weekday but not as crowded as weekend...we continued our hiking to the second and finally reached the 3rd peak at 6.40am...some stayed back at the first peak because they're not feeling well...so some of us continued...

Continued our journey to the last peak...4th peak....it's not very far from the 1st....but it has a lot of rock climbing....

Climbing is over...now what's for break1st? where else to eat other than Broga town pan mee...however when we reached there, it's not open...sad....so we've to change location....off to ikan bakar...drive all the way in to see another disappointment...it's not open too...so we're left with no choice but to go to kajang to have our break1st...by the time we reach kajang, it's no longer break1st...it's branch time...hahaha....so yea, we have curry mee and ice kacang there....ahhhh! there's nothing like a huge ice kacang after all those sweats...

Well, overall was fun for this event...although i am afraid, but i would like to try TABUR hill!! hahaha...

Today, my cousin came over to my place wif his family to celebrate 2 ppls birthday...one would be my mum & d other would b my lil' niece...My cousin sis in law juz tink of celebrating both birthdays together...so we did sum 'masak-masak' & 'makan-makan' in our hse....my mum cooked 'LAM MEE', which is also known as birthday mee while my cousin sis in law cooked 'LO MAI FAN' (we called it glutinous rice in english)...there's also sum fried dumplings made by both my mum n cousin sis in law....hehehe....

Home BBQ ^-^

Last weekend, my bros decide to have BBQ at home instead of mom's cooking....

So we went shopping for our bbq in the morn....we've bought some sausages, chicken wings, sweet potatoes, prawns, corns and also packet otak-otak...

In additional to it, mom made some eng sandwiches in case those ingredient for bbq are not enough....

Well, the weather is super hot here...i guess we've made the wrong choice bbq-ing in this kind of weather...During the bbq, it felt like we are in the sauna...haha...sweat a lot...but enjoy the fun...

Emergency Reponse Unit (ERU team)

Y'day was the launching of Statewide 24 hours of Ambulance Service and Formation of Emergency Response Unit at KPS area HQ...Many officers from the national, state and area level came to our area HQ to witness this big event...

Emergency Response Unit is also called ERU...This team will be called out for duty whenever thr's disaster or emergency cases happen...ERU is form in almost every state by St John Ambulans Malaysia...

Y'day was the day where Selangor state St John form this unit...this unit is the combination of members from several areas in Selangor state...To join the team is easy but to participate in all the trainings will be a tough thg to do...

Next we will start our trainings with bomba and also attachments in the several hosp in Selangor...This is whr the tough part begins...

Our Malacca Physiotherapy Dept

The dept is divided into few rooms :

a) Electro

b) Gym

c) Hand

d) Woman's Health

e) Cardio-Respiratory
f) Hydrotherapy

Cool huh? Has signboard for every room..hehe...

Eletro room basically treats spine and shoulder problems...

In electro, we can see many patients which has frozen shoulder, shoulder impingement, PID, spondylolisthesis, spondylosis and etc...

Patients coming into this room usually do hot pack, traction, infra red, ultra sound and also exercises taught by the physiotherapist there..

This is the electro room..its the biggest among all rooms in the physio dept

Next will be GYM...

There are many many exercise machine in the gym...Gym focus more on the lower limb which is the leg...People who are suffering from lower limb prob will usually come to the gym...Most patient who come to the gym suffers from plantar fascitis, OA knee, RA, post-op and etc....these are the most common conditions can be seen in the gym....

The hand room is kinda small and packed...

Luckily the number of patients in the room are not many...haha...if not, the room will be like "PASAR"...hehe...

Patients coming in here usually suffers from trigger finger, carpal tunnel syndrome, golfer's elbow, tennis's elbow, colles's fracture and etc...

The most common treatment seen in the hand room will be WAX...hehe...

Most of the patient know what they must do...
1st : Wash their hands and dry them

2nd : Dip the injured part into the wax a few times

3rd : wrap the part with plastic bag n cloth

The patients are even better than us students...haha...

The other rooms in the dept are also small room...I've never been in the woman health's room...so i do not not the treatment and also cases seen in there....as for the cardio-respiratory room, it is actually our discussion room...students will have discussion with the physio every morn before we start our work...

About the hydrotherapy room, it is under construction...so i don't have the chance to see it being use....but anyway, i noe wat is a hydrotherapy room look like now...hehe....

Back from 2nd Clinical Posting

Finally back home after completing my clinical posting in Malacca GH...

This is our beloved Hospital Melaka

During these 1 month, i've learn many many thgs and seen many many different types of condition which happened in real life...
It has been a wonderful experience working with all the staffs and students from other colleges in the physio dept there...
They are all very friendly and kind to us throughout our posting there....
We have a lot of fun working together and playing with the patients there...
The patients in the hosp are all willing to share and friendly....
Whatever we ask, they'll explain to us...

In Malacca, we've seen many people suffering from Osteoarthritis(OA) knee...so most of the patients who come will landed up in gym as all the treatment is done in gym...
There are also many trigger finger and carpal tunnel syndrome cases...
Mostly affected teachers many due to prolong writing on the whiteboard...hehe...
In the wards we can see many MVA cases in Malacca....mostly involving motorcyclist and car drivers...but the person who injured the most will be the motorcyclist...
There are many young teenagers who are involve in these accident...
It is sad to see young children being knock down from the bike and fracture their leg...
Now they are in the hosp with either external fixator, on POP or etc....

We kinda miss the dept staffs and also the patients there...really have a great time there altho we did not have a good start...as days passed, we kinda enjoy ourselves with the patients and also people working in the dept...

If there's any chance, i dun mind going back to this hosp for clinical placement...opss..hehehe....

3 assignments!!!

Day 18 in Malacca GH posting

Today one of our lecturer came down Malacca to see how all of us in Malacca is doing....
Mr Muthu went to each hosp whr we were place to visit us n c how are we doin thr....
We never got the chance to talk to him much as he was rushing to other hosps whr my other coursemates are thr...

It has been a great experience here as i've seen many WEIRD patients in this hosp...
Thr was a young lady...how do i describe her?? hmmm...as wat her carer says she has low IQ...so she catch thgs slower than others...
So here's d catch....we've to ask here some Qs as we nid to do assessment on her...
It looks lik it is a great challenge to communicate wif this patient....
watever we tell her she seems to stare at us ony...we gotta do some sign language, repeat a few time and do it again n again for her to c for her to finally understand wat we are trying to explain/tell her...haiz....great challenge to communicate tis way...haha...

A szisophrenia pt has walk into the dept....
Every1 to her is suspicious...she's scare n low self confident....she kept looking down on the flr as she walk as if many tiny creatures on the flr n she dint wanna crush dem...
She also has a very weird gait pattern...sumthg lik shuffling gait but it is not...dunno wat is it called...
When ever u tok to her, she dun ans u neither look at u....
Ony 1 physio thr can communicate wif her....

Thr's another pt...a 70+ pt who fell frm the roof of his hse...
wondering what he was doing on the roof??
Well, he was repairing his tank on the roof and he slip and fell...
He was admitted into XXX hosp as he has fracture his patella...
Now he is suffering frm many sickness...imagine juz a patella fracture and now havin so many probs...lungs, liver, kidney, diabetes, HPT...haiz...wat a pity....
He juz came out frm d ward recently as he suffer frm many complication after the patella fracture surgery...
Imagine a healthy old man now havin so many probs wif his health....it will be a diff thg for him to accept...he use to do tai chi every morn, a person who has no sickness altho he's already 70+..
but now....
He's legs are very weak...he's unable to stand up frm sitting to standing..he usually nid help on tat...but he is very motivated when he manage to sit to stand independently after our physio tot him the actual technique to perform the task...now he's looking forward to walk independently...haha...wat a great achievement for this uncle....

Thr are many more motivating stories saw in the physiotherapy dept of this hosp itself...

2nd day of Clinical Posting

Things are getting better today....the person who is in charge of us is back...
In d morn, she brought us to d HR dept of the hosp to register ourselves n get our ID card....
She even introduced us to the HR people...hehe...

Today, i get to assess a patients pain scale..all by my own...tatz an improvement...at least i got to part of the whole assessment...its juz 2nd day....so muz take thgs slowly...

I will be in the gym for this week...there are many diff cases in gym...its kinda fun and exciting....
Today, i've help out in treating patients...help out with hotpack, cryo, walking etc....
Have the feel for it tis time...unlike the 1st posting whr we can only observe...

Well, tatz all for today..hope tml thr we'll move a bigger step forward...

First day of my 2nd clinical posting

Today is the first day of our actual clinical posting ( as the first posting in Sem 1 was juz observation) in Hospital Melaka...The physiotherapists there are all very nice and friendly...unlike the 1st posting i went..opss...hehe...they welcome us warmly...BUT......

Today v are named "Ms Dunno or Ms No"...Every Q we've been asked will ony be "no" or "dunno"...haiz...

The HOD there are not very happy wif us bcos she dint really wanna accept our attendance as she has many students from other colleges are attached to this hosp aso...They are in the last sem or second yr ady...so dey are much more knowledgable compare to us as we are juz in yr 1 sem 2 ony...

It's a boring day cos v r here to observe again...the HOD said we dun hve enuf knowledge to touch the patient...
Another observation day again...lik our 1st posting...haiz...

Hope tml we b a better day as the person who in charge of us will be back...

Assignments n Books

This afternoon as my mum was preparing for lunch, she broke this egg...

It came out, there is 2 yolk in it....this chicken muz b havin a pair of 'Siamese twins'...

It is not often tat we can get an egg wif 2 yolk in it...

Reunion dinner

Juz came back frm ICC y'day...
I hve a great time altho it's juz one nite...
I reach d camp site around 3pm...saw all my frens thr under d rain went i enter d main gate...hehehe...(dey r avoidin d rain, i m in d car takin photos of dem)

Once i reach thr, i start my duty...helping sonie out for sun's tour...
In d nite, finally i can meet up my ah kong and my ji mui...hehehe...
V tok n tok n tok non stop...den i listen n listen n listen to their stories...4 days story...hahaha...
I slept in d same dorm as dem as me n my ji mui has many thgs to tok about...v finally doze off at 2 sumthg...
D next morn, v all woke up quite earlier cos v nid to stick d logos n grp no on the buses...around 4.45am...ony 2 hrs of sleep (no choice...too many thgs to tok...tok non stop)...hehehe...
Each of us is in charge of a bus to bring all d ICC campers for a tour around KL...TOUR GUIDE for a day...haha...
D 1st place v went was Dataran Merdeka...wat does d dataran hve???hehehe...SJAM is havin their national review on tat day....every1 was cool...wearing uniform...parade at d dataran...haha...
All d campers r thr to c tis national event which does not takes place often...its a great opportunity to take part in this event...

V start of wif Times Square den KL Tower, KLCC, National Palace and National monumen...
Its a challenge cus thr r 25 buses touring around KL at d same time...luckily thr r few traffic polices...or else our buses wif split cos of d traffic in KL....
Have a great time thr...enjoy d camp altho its juz one day...meet many ppl frm other states n country...get to noe dem n d SJ thr...

International Cadet Camp 2008

Today ICC officially starts...after all d preparation, the camp finally starts...
The camp is at Templer's Park, Rawang...
ICC stands for INTERNATIONAL CADET CAMP...St John members frm the world will attend this camp...Malaysia will be the host this year as SJAM is celebrating its 100 yrs this yr...
I cant join d camp as i still have class n assessment during this 1 week period...
It is a waste as this is a golden opportunity to meet St John members frm other country...
But i'll be joinin them on sun....i'll be goin and help out as bus tour cos on sun they'll be goin for National Review and also a tour around KL...
HOPE EVERYONE ENJOY THE CAMP!!!

walk until leg aso pain..
v enter shop by shop to c d clothes and also tried many...haha..
I've bought a few n my zi mui bought d most...haha...every thgs seems so nice....uncontrolable...
Even d parking fees aso max charge ady...imagine how long are we in pyramid...

At nite, mum brought me for shopping again...
Actually i m suppose to accompany her to d shop not me buyin clothes again...haha...
unfortunately, i aso bought a couple of clothes again...haha...

On thurs, i went for public 1st aid with ys n hk...
SIME DARBY PLANTATION...cool...
went v 1st enter...wow...d area is huge and is covered by palm trees everywhr...
inside they were divided into a few company...our destination was east estate...
u imagine d whole way to the east estate office is covered wif palm trees...
d road is long and scary..cos not many cars passes by...and guess wat...we were LOST at 1st...
but manage to find d way out...cos there's 2 bumps at every junction...and v dint noe tat d 2 bumps r consider as 1...so it was a miscalculation...hehe...luckily we were early...if not, v are gonna b so late...we dun noe d way..its lik a maze inside...or mayb v r not used 2 d road...

D 2nd thg which is interesting are d participants...d participants are those harvesters, tractor drivers and etc...sum of dem dun even understand BM...tat is a really big challenge for us...how to teach if v cant communicate???
tatz d interesting part of it....pics and also demonstrations...fortunately, dey r very close to each other...dey tend to help each other to learn...interesting...united...hehehe...

fri is their exam...we're quite worried tat dey might not pass n unable to understand wat we taught on thurs..surprisingly, dey all pass...we're glad...its really challenging and gud experience...usually when v go for public 1st aid, d participants are office ppl..so they'll b able to understand and absorb faster...tis time we are dealing wif a totally diff situation...muz b patient and muz use lots n lots of creativity to explain to dem...

Its a wonderful experience...can learn diff ways of teaching 1st aid...hahaha....

Litrak Mock Up

Today, LITRAK has organise a mock exercise at Hentian Ayer Hitam (near to Puchong Selatan toll)...have to wake up so early today cos have to reach hq by 5am and reach hentian ayer hitam by 6am...3 vehicles are involved in this mock - are a tanker, a kancil and a myvi...

There were 6 of us who went thr...we are thr not to do 1st aid but to do casualty make up...i dun really noe how 2 do casualty make up as i've nvr attended d course b4...but i've learn a lil' frm my seniors during secondary sch days last time...so juz han tam make one wound only la...hahaha...

There are a few BOMBA truck, POLICE cars and AMBULANCEs....not to forget LITRAK ppl are thr too...

1st week of SEM 2

During the 1st week of sem 2, we were introduced to a new module which is the CR module...u guys muz b wondering wat is CR?? hehehe...well, CR stands for cardiorespiratory...is the combination lesson of cardio (heart) and respiratory (lungs)...oh gosh, we've a new lecturer for this module....

On Tues, the tailor was here to take our measurement for our uniform...oh my god...dunno how 2 describe bout the uniform...a bit weird...

On Thurs, our 1st class of CR module officially start...Mdm Shalini was the lecturer (she's the new lecturer for us)..she's nice and explains well...we've got many info frm her...but her lecture was a bit too long...so most of us felt a bit sleepy...opss...hahaha...anyway, we did enjoy her lecture as tis is the 1st time we attend her lecture...

Today, we have Mr Madhavan's lecture....today is about heart...die...most of d bio knowledge studied in F6 had slowly fade frm my memory....nid to dig back my bio notes to keep updated...

So far i've felt tis module is quite interesting...mayb i m interested in lungs and heart..hehehe...

Today i've received a msg frm our area sec tat all sub comm nid to be at the camp site throughout the camp...i was super happy at first...tis is an international camp whr all cadets frm all over the world will be coming to M'sia for a 7 days and 6 nite camp...

However tat happiness is juz for a moment...i've remembered tat i have NO HOLIDAY during tat period of time...i can go if i wan...i hve 2 choices...either i skip my class or i sacrifice tis golden opportunity...haiz...difficult choice to make...i can skip class as i'll get a letter frm st john to exempt myself...so no worries for tat...but if i skip class i'll miss a lot...so difficult to make decision...

Unfortunately i've given up d camp and attend my classes...will miss a great camp..
sad....

1st day of SEM 2

It has been a bad start for d first day of sem 2...

As in the timetable, on mon we have class...but unforturnately our lecturer was on MC...so class was cancelled on mon....

On tues, our class will resume lik normal...our timetable stated tat our class will be at 9am...but lik usual...miscommunication...it has been changed to 11.30am...we who travel up and down nid to wake up early to beat the traffic jam and reach for class in time felt tat we hve been cheated...
If it was told earlier we wont mind...but we already plan to hve sumthg in between b4 of next class...now bcos of sum miscommunication, the plan has to cancel...haiz...

We also had our results of our practical exam on tues...not very gud result...not a gud day i guess...everythg juz not right for me...haiz...

Steamboat + Sleepover

We ony have 3 days of holiday after our finals..sad to say tat...but nvm...we did enjoy ourselves..hehehe...

On Sun, we have steamboat + sleepover in joo's room...hehehe...imagine her room can fit 6 ppl (it's like a market in thr)...normal days, it even can fit 8 ppl (hypermarket..hehehe)...hahaha...
Tis is our 2nd steamboat party...tis time we had tom yam soup and chicken soup...d steamboat material was bought by joo frm penang and some by me frm ipoh (lik kl cannot find material for steamboat...hahaha)...doris bought d tom yam paste for d tom yam soup...too bad ying and sian cant join us tis time...but nvm, we plan another one so tat all of us can enjoy it together...

On Mon, we went to Ne-Way...SING K...hahaha...i've nvr been thr wif dem before...tis is d first time...as usual, thr wil be sum of us which wil be left our...tis time, ying did not join us...
We sang and sang and sang...sing frm 11am till 3pm...hahaha...really enjoy ourselves...
Next trip to Sunway Lagoon ya...hehehe....

End of 1st Sem...

Time fly so fast...it is already end of my first sem in my 1st year...

I still remember the first step i took into MC..rite after i know my uni results...
I was not offered the course i wanted and i got UMS...they juz offered me a course which no one noes wat is it about...quite dissapointed at first but tend to get over it after awhile...i've plan to take up physio or psycho in the local uni...but never get the chance to enter...i've gone to edu fair to have a look at some colleges which offers the two courses i intend to take up...i juz cant make up my mind whether to take physio or psycho...and i am still quite disappointed tat i couldn't make into local uni after spending my time in F6...but anyway, i've enjoyed my F6's life...so it is not a waste of time altho i never make it into local uni...hehehe....i've tink quite long and wasted a lot of time making my decision...

After wasting a long time to tink, i've decided to take physio...at first i am quite blurr as i've enter late...they've started the class by end of jun but i enter my first class on the 1st week of july...so i'm late by 1 week....communication error....don't mention....
got to noe many new frens and manage to get along wif dem well...and so far i enjoyed the course and felt that its quite interesting...

I remember our first posting in Aug...we've manage to enjoy ourselves altho we have a stressful period during the 2 weeks in Seremban...Kinda have many probs which 3 of us hve to face but we manage it quite well and we came back to MC safely...hahaha...It is an interesting experience as we've learn many thgs which we cant learn in college itself...we've saw many types of patient in the hosp...and d most creepy thg was....we muz walk pass the MORTUARY everyday!!! oh gosh...but we got used to it after a few days...hospital life wert...normal la...hehehe...it has been a gud experience and we've learn many many thgs thr...hope the next posting will be a memorable wan too...

After our posting, we came back to college..tis time we're fill with assignment and research paper...both went well altho for research paper thr are somore communication prob between me and my partner...but we did finish the research paper and presentation well...

There's all in the 1st sem...so far, i feel the stress level and time is still managable..hehehe...
Hope next sem will be a better one and i wont be so lazy as tis sem...hehehe...

Yeah!!!
Finals are finally over y'day..both theory and practical exam for musculoskelatal module are finally over...

Written exam was on Mon...
All the Q are quite similar to the previous yr but the parts of the joints ask are different...its juz the formats which are the same...overall i tink i did not do well cos i m not really well prepared (wat to do?? lazy to study..hehehe)

On Wed was the practical exam...oh god...i was so so so nervous...u can hear it frm my voice...SHAKING....haha...to me, i dun tink i did well for my practical...and...i've screw up two muscles name...oh god..hopefully tatz d ony mistake i make...

Hope i pass my finals...hehe...

It has been a tiring week for most of us....
Everyone is studying hard for our coming finals...
I need to travel from my hse to college and frm college to my hse...
dunno how 2 describe that feeling...really tiring...wif all the jams every morn...oh my god...

We have juz finish our 4 days of revision classes...
During these 4 days, many doubts had been cleared by our lecturers...
But i feel lik is never enuf...haha...
Mayb bcos i m not fully ready for my finals yet...

Mon will be the day...OUR FINAL EXAMINATION!!!!
Kinda scare...always feel unprepare...dunno y...
Hope can finish everythg fast and PASS my finals...
hehehe...

English Research Paper

Finally our english project has end...
Our english presentation was over on the 23/10...
Glad that it is finally over...
On that day, we are suppose to meet up at 1B...but unforturnately the class has been change to 2B at the very last min...most of us didnt noe n we stayed at 1B for quite a long time...
It is already 9am when one of our classmates msg us n tell us tat the class has changed to 2B..
We all rush up to 2B n guess wat....Mr Menon LOCK the door...we were all left outside of the class cos the presentation had started...we were very angry at 1st but unfortunately we manage to cool ourselves down when we enter after the first group has present...
During the presentation, i talk as if like i am chasing a bullet train..hahaha...very fast...
but overall i tink should be ok kua...hope mr Menon understands what am i trying to present to him...hehehe...

Today we are about to summit our research booklet...there are many last min work and there is conflict between me and my partner...but we manage to overcome it and the booklet was FINALLY ready...
It is a relieve for us that another project is done and now we all can concentrate for our finals....
